Open up about money at work with free resources and advice
Talk Money Week at work
4 - 8 November 2024
open up about money at work and help improve financial wellbeing.
Your employees and colleagues are dealing with financial pressures every day. From managing the rising cost of living to planning for retirement. Yet, money remains a difficult and sometimes uncomfortable topic to open up about in the workplace.
This Talk Money Week, you can help change that. Encourage your team to take our quick, 5-question Financial Wellbeing Reflection Tool. This check goes beyond technical knowledge. It can help individuals reflect on how they think and feel about money, and how these emotions influence their financial decisions.
In an increasingly complex and stressful financial landscape, we know that understanding your attitudes and behaviours around money is just as important as knowing the numbers or the latest investment trend. Our holistic approach empowers employees to explore their relationship with money, fostering intentional financial habits and more confident decision-making.
Your financial wellbeing reflection tool
Your Financial Wellbeing Reflection Tool has been developed by JFF’s financial education experts and mirrors the approach we use in our school programmes: the 5 Big Questions about money.
These questions are carefully designed to help individuals reflect on their own financial habits, emotions and decision-making processes. Just as our school education programmes help children explore the role money plays in their lives, this Financial Wellbeing Reflection Tool helps adults to explore these themes in a practical way.
The 5 Big Questions are:
· Where does our money come from?
· How does money make us feel?
· What can we use our money for?
· How does our money help other people?
· How can we look after our money?
The 5 Big Questions focus on areas that are crucial for both children and adults to engage with: earning money, managing it, saving for the future, understanding financial systems, and making confident spending choices. By mirroring this approach, the Financial Wellbeing Reflection Tool encourages employees to think beyond just their technical knowledge of finance. It can help them consider how their beliefs, values and emotions influence their financial decisions.
JFF does not provide financial advice - if you are unsure about what's right for you, please seek advice.
Share the Financial Wellbeing reflection tool with your employees this Talk Money Week and take the first step in opening up about money at work.

Talking about money at work is important because financial wellbeing has a significant impact on employee mental health, engagement, and overall job satisfaction. Money worries are the number one cause of employee stress in the UK.
Many people experience financial stress, but it can feel isolating if the topic is never addressed openly. Creating a culture where money conversations are encouraged helps break down stigma, supports staff in managing financial challenges, and builds trust within the workplace.
By promoting open discussions, companies show they care about their employees’ wellbeing beyond the office, leading to a healthier and more engaged workforce.
