We're Fighting Back Against COVID-19

Dear JFF supporters,

First and foremost, we wish you, your family and loved ones all the very best in getting through these difficult days. All of us at JFF hope you are happy, safe and healthy.

We wanted to take a moment to write and update you on the work the Just Finance Foundation are doing to battle the Coronavirus. The Just Finance Foundation, like many other charities, have been quick to respond with support for people affected by the Coronavirus.

So what have we been doing?

Coronavirus Help Hub

The Coronavirus pandemic has already had a significant effect on the economy, with many job losses, over a million people applying for Universal Credit, freelancers having work cancelled indefinitely – just to name a few. There is widespread worry about incomes and financial security, particularly considering that over 11 million people in the UK have less than £100 in savings.

That’s why we launched the JFF Coronavirus Financial Help Hub within a day of national lockdown (17th March).

Available on the JFF website, the resource pulls together all the latest information and resources for people facing financial difficulty or uncertainty.

The Hub, has basic information but also links to expert websites. It is being updated regularly with the most up to date information and has sections on Universal Credit, Mortgages, Sick Pay, Debt and other key themes.

To date we have had over 1200 unique visitors to the hub, with over 200 visiting in the first 24 hours of launch. Click here to visit the Help Hub

COVID Cash Course (CCC)

We have also developed ‘COVID Cash Course’, a pioneering two-hour course which trains community leaders and organisations to deliver financial capability information remotely to individuals in their community. COVID Cash Course is designed as an information and signposting intervention, aiming to prevent the financial challenges posed by the Coronavirus from causing crisis in local communities. Households across the UK have been thrown into financial chaos due to the Coronavirus, therefore many individuals are unaware of:

  • What they’re entitled to

  • Where to access support

  • How to begin accessing help

  • How to plan and cope financially during this period of uncertainty

Delivered either by computer screen sharing and video link or purely over the telephone for people without internet access, delivering COVID Cash Course in your area, to your community or friends and family could really help them navigate this tough time.

You can see the course, access our resources and see our train-the-trainer sessions here: COVID Cash Course

Daily Activities For Families -  LifeSavers

Before lockdown, we were in the process of expanding LifeSavers, our financial education programme for primary school children, to 40 new schools across Nottinghamshire and Wiltshire.

We’re now posting daily activities to keep you and your child entertained and learning during quarantine!

The activities are posted on our LifeSavers Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, and are based on our LifeSavers values of kindness, wisdom, justice and thankfulness. So make sure to follow us if you’re not already!

You can find all of the activities here: LifeSavers Daily Activities

We Need Your Support

Charities like ourselves have been hit hard by the Coronavirus, but we’re determined to continue to support individuals and communities impacted by this terrible virus.

The Coronavirus has highlighted the need for financial capability and a fairer financial system, with many being thrown into financial distress within the space of days.

We need to be there to support them.

We ask that you consider making a small gift (only if you’re able to) to the Just Finance Foundation to ensure we can still deliver our programmes and help communities impacted by the outbreak.

Thank you for your generosity.
